ISN and partner boot brush stations are located at more than 60 trailheads throughout northwest Michigan (and beyond).  They serve as excellent tools for preventing the spread of invasive species that may get trapped in shoes after going for a hike. Giving your feet a quick cleaning can knock off any plant hitchhikers that may be trying to follow you to a new natural area.

This year, ISN has added QR codes to the stations and if you spot one, we encourage you to take our short survey! Your answers will help guide future invasive species management decisions in the area. As a thank you, each survey will be entered into a drawing to win an assortment of ISN swag, from apparel to field guides and personal boot brushes.

Boot brush stations with codes can be found throughout Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Manistee Counties. Watch for them at properties managed by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, Leelanau Conservancy, Grand Traverse Conservation District, Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club, Orchard Beach State Park, GOREC, TC Parks and Rec, Michigan Audubon, the Au Sable Institute, and more.

The prize giveaway closes on Friday, August 27, 2021.
However, the survey will remain open indefinitely. Any questions can be directed to ISN Outreach Specialist, Emily Cook: ecook@gtcd.org. Prize packages are outlined below.

First Prize: Full ISN swag bundle (pictured to the left - puppy not included). Receive an ISN tee shirt, hat, invasive species ID guide, native plant seeds, and a family set of portable boot brushes.

Second Prize: Invasive species ID guide, native plant seeds, and two portable boot brushes.

Third Prize: Invasive species ID guide and a portable boot brush
