Zach started working in the natural resources field as an NPS intern at Sleeping Bear Dunes during the summer of 2019, working with their invasive plant treatment crew. Shortly after, he graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Science.
From there, he spent that summer at ISN surveying for invasive plants, and almost two years with Mason-Lake Conservation District on their Hemlock Woolly Adelgid crew. He also worked a summer at SEEDS, restoring oak savannas in the Manistee National Forest and building trails for various conservancy properties in Benzie County. As a returning employee to ISN, he is excited to assist partner organizations and landowners manage invasive species on their properties.
In his spare time, Zach likes to walk and mountain bike trails in the area, stopping to take pictures of the view or pet people's dogs as they walk by.
