Emma Sznewajs (they/them)
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Specialist
Emma grew up in southwest Michigan, but has been visiting Frankfort every summer since they were young. They graduated from DePaul University in 2023 after spending much of their time working in both the university greenhouse and soil laboratories and developed a love for environmental conservation and protection.

After graduation, Emma moved to Frankfort full time and worked as an Invasive Species Technician during the summer of 2023 for ISN. As a technician, Emma spent many hours working with several crews, including the Mason Lake Conservation District, to treat the HWA infestation along the western coast of Benzie County. After a brief stint doing corporate work, they realized they much preferred working out in the field and returned to ISN as a part of the HWA Team in June of 2024.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys being outside in any possible way, often on hikes with friends and family. If not outdoors, they can often be spotted at whatever local bar is doing karaoke on a given night.
