Kathryn (Kat) Arnold us joining the ISN team as a Seasonal Field Technician this summer. Her recent experiences comes from working in various conservation capacities with different organizations over the last 2 years. She began working with Indiana DNR as a Resource Management Tech, learning about invasive plant ID and herbicide use. There she became a certified herbicide applicator, as well as her Red Card certification for participating in wildland fire fighting and prescribed fire. She then spent last summer working with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, working on wildlife management areas, helping to plant food plots and helping with some wildlife surveys (including banding morning doves).
She recently just finished spending the winter with Georgia DNR as a part of the State Park's Prescribed Fire Crew. While with ISN Kat is hoping to further expand her knowledge, experience, and skills in the identification and termination practices involving invasive plant species, while also enjoying the natural beauty of Northwest Michigan.
